IT Systems Engineer
ET&T
Prevent problems. Improve environments. Make IT easier to support. ET&T is looking for an experienced "Technical Alignment Engineer" who believes the best support ticket is the one that never needs to be opened. This is not a traditional help desk role....
Job description
You will conduct regular remote and on-site reviews, compare client environments against ET&T’s defined technical and cybersecurity standards, and remediate issues within an established scope. When a finding requires greater planning, investment, or architectural change, you will clearly document the need and help transition it into a properly scoped project.
The right person combines broad technical knowledge with curiosity, organization, sound judgment, and exceptional documentation habits.
What You’ll Do
Audit client environments against ET&T’s technical, operational, and cybersecurity standards.
Remediate identified gaps using approved standards and procedures.
Determine whether findings should be resolved immediately, scheduled as controlled changes, discussed with the client, or scoped as projects.
Maintain accurate client documentation, including infrastructure, applications, credentials, assets, network diagrams, procedures, and client-specific support information.
Conduct regular client site visits to complete physical assessments, remediation, and documentation.
Build trusted client relationships through clear communication and professional follow-through.
Identify risks, recurring problems, aging infrastructure, and opportunities for long-term improvement.
Provide clear technical handoffs to service leadership, project teams, and account management.
Serve as a Level 2 escalation resource as needed.
Help improve ET&T’s technical standards and internal processes based on what you encounter in the field.
Our standards cover a broad range of areas, including servers, workstations, networking, firewalls, backups, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, identity, security tools, and documentation.
You’ll Be Successful Here If You
Prefer preventing recurring problems over repeatedly fixing symptoms.
Can methodically assess an unfamiliar technology environment.
Treat documentation as part of completing the technical work.
Follow standards while recognizing when an exception or escalation is necessary.
Can balance technical quality, client impact, risk, effort, and urgency.
Communicate clearly with both technical and nontechnical people.
Take ownership of findings through remediation, escalation, or documented handoff.
Are comfortable working independently while remaining accountable to a team.
