OverviewThe Senior Modern Workplace Engineer serves as a pivotal cross-functional technical leader at the nexus of digital workplace transformation and secure mobile enablement, responsible for empowering seamless collaboration, productivity, and mobility by leveraging Microsoft 365 productivity workloads, unified endpoint management, and enterprise mobility solutions. This role architects and operationalizes secure, scalable solutions that enable employees and clients to work effectively from any device, in any location, at any time, fully aligned with the organization’s zero-trust and modern workplace strategy. By integrating modern endpoint management with advanced Microsoft 365 engineering, the engineer ensures digital workflows are optimized, endpoints are secured, and users remain consistently connected to critical applications and data across all platforms. The role requires deep technical acumen, a proactive consulting mindset, and an unwavering focus on user experience, serving as both a subject matter expert and a strategic enabler for enterprise-wide digital transformation.
ResponsibilitiesModern Workplace EnablementEngineer, deploy, and optimize Microsoft 365 workloads, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams (inclusive of Teams Phone & PSTN integration), and other collaboration toolsProvide consulting services to clients and internal stakeholders, guiding the digital transformation of business processes using Microsoft’s productivity cloudDevelop and maintain baseline configurations, deployment procedures, and governance guidelines for Microsoft 365 workloads, ensuring consistency across environmentsServe as Tier 4 escalation point for Microsoft 365 platform issues, providing expert-level troubleshooting and root cause analysisStay current with the Microsoft 365 Roadmap to proactively introduce innovative features, enhancements, and best practices to the organization and clientsUnified Endpoint & Mobility EngineeringImplement and maintain Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) and Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) solutions (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Jamf, or equivalent platforms) to manage mobile devices, desktops, laptops, and IoT endpointsLead the full lifecycle management of mobile and endpoint devices, including procurement, provisioning, enrollment, configuration, maintenance, patching, and decommissioningDesign and enforce security and compliance policies for mobile and endpoint environments, including encryption, Mobile Threat Defense (MTD), conditional access, and app protection policiesSupport BYOD and COPE (Corporate-Owned, Personally Enabled) strategies, ensuring secure and seamless access to enterprise applications and data across iOS, Android, Windows, Chrome OS, and macOSSecurity & Compliance AlignmentImplement Zero Trust principles across device and productivity ecosystems, collaborating with cybersecurity teams to support threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident responseMaintain adherence to regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and other compliance mandates through regular audits, security testing, and continuous policy refinementAutomation & Operational ExcellenceAutomate device provisioning, enrollment, patch management, and compliance enforcement through scripting (e.g., PowerShell), APIs, and MDM capabilitiesMonitor endpoint health, performance, and security posture using dashboards, analytics, and reporting toolsContribute to the development of SOPs, engineering standards, and knowledge bases to drive operational efficiency and knowledge sharingCollaboration & Cross-Functional SupportPartner with internal IT, Service Desk, Service Delivery, and Technology Operations teams as the escalation owner for advanced technical tickets, ensuring resolution and follow-through on systemic issuesAct as a technical lead during client implementations, pilot rollouts, and system upgrades to ensure the successful adoption of modern workplace and mobility solutionsEngage with business units and end-users to translate needs into actionable technical solutions, enhancing the digital employee experienceSupport quoting processes by providing technical scoping details, licensing requirements, and bill of materials to ensure accurate and scalable proposals, working collaboratively with sales, procurement, and vendor management teamsQualifications5+ years of experience working with M365 and mobile device platformsDeep knowledge of Microsoft 365 workloads (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, Teams Phone, Power Platform, etc.)Expertise in Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) and Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) platforms (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Jamf Pro)Strong understanding of Zero Trust security models, mobile threat defense, and endpoint compliance strategiesAdvanced PowerShell scripting and automation skills (VBS, commandline/PSExec)Familiarity with identity management, conditional access, and multi-factor authenticationProficient in device platform management across Windows, Chrome OS, macOS, iOS/iPadOS, and Android ecosystemsStrong customer engagement skills with the ability to provide consultative guidance and technical mentorshipWhy Join Us?Our purpose is people. At Impact, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $100,000-$120,000 plus bonus plan eligibility, if applicable.
