Vibe Coder - Client Platform
Upwork
Overview Frankly Financial is a Canadian fractional-CFO and bookkeeping firm serving small and growing businesses. We’re building a client portal (app.franklyfinancial.co) that gives our clients one place to upload statements, see their financials, answer...
Job description
We’re looking for a full-stack developer who is genuinely fast with modern AI-assisted (“vibe coding”) tools to build this portal end-to-end. Direction, designs, and content come from us; you turn them into a working, reliable product. This is a hands-on build role, not a research role — we care more about a shipped, usable portal than a perfect architecture.
The engagement is a fixed ~3–4 month project at roughly 20 hours/week, taking the portal from a working shell to a live MVP piloted with real clients. Strong performers may continue into later phases (QBO integration, chat, expanded reporting).
Responsibilities
You’ll build a two-sided portal — an internal surface for our team and an external surface for our clients.
Internal (team) side
•Build a team dashboard that tracks status across all clients at a glance — client intake, monthly reporting status, and tax/filing status.
• Pull communications and emails from multiple staff members into one client-centric view.
• Let the team create client requests and tasks, upload reports to clients, and update client dashboards.
External (client) side
• Secure client login and a dashboard showing each client their own financials.
• Document collection — request, upload, and track the documents we need from each client.
• Automatic reminders for tax deadlines and outstanding requests.
• Notifications when something is updated — a new report, a new request, or a status change.
Across both
• Connect the portal to our Google Workspace — Gmail and Google Drive — for documents and communications.
• Deploy and keep it running (Vercel + Supabase), with code committed to GitHub.
• Wire in AI features using the Anthropic (Claude) API where they add real value.
• Work closely and iteratively with the founder, and ship a demoable build every week.
Tech & Environment
• Frontend: React + TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
• Build / UI tooling: Lovable.dev for UI. Comfort with AI-assisted / “vibe” coding tools (Lovable, Cursor, Claude Code) is central to this role.
• Backend / DB / Auth: Supabase (Postgres + auth)
• Hosting: Vercel, custom domain
• Integrations: Google Workspace APIs (Gmail, Drive), Anthropic Claude API
• Source control: GitHub. Everything runs on Mac.
We care about outcomes, not brand-name adherence — if a tool gets us to a shipped portal faster, we’re open to it.
Qualifications
• Mid-level full-stack experience — you can build a real product end to end.
• Genuinely fast with AI-assisted development; you’ve shipped things with Lovable, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.
• Comfortable integrating third-party APIs — auth, email, storage, and cloud services.
• Able to work independently and take direction from a non-technical founder; you translate “here’s what it should do” into working software.
• Clear, frequent communicator — async-friendly, with some overlap into Eastern Time hours.
• Practical mindset — you know when “good enough” is actually good enough.
Nice to Have
• Experience with fintech, accounting, or bookkeeping products.
• QuickBooks Online API experience (a later phase wires QBO in).
• Notification / reminder systems (email, in-app).
• OCR / PDF parsing for financial documents.
• Comfort building simple AI features on top of an LLM API.
Success Metrics (KPIs)
• Portal MVP live at app.franklyfinancial.co by the end of the engagement.
• A working, demoable build every week.
• Client-facing essentials working: secure login, document upload, request/task list, financial dashboard, deadline reminders, and update notifications.
• Internal essentials working: cross-client status view (intake, monthly reporting, tax) and a unified client communications view.
• Gmail and Google Drive integrations functioning; app deployed on Vercel + Supabase with code in GitHub.
• Bug turnaround under ~48 hours during the pilot; stable uptime for a 2-client pilot.
• Clean handoff notes so the Frankly team can keep iterating after the engagement.
Confidentiality
This portal handles confidential client financial data. The role requires a signed NDA and careful, professional handling of sensitive information throughout the engagement.
