Key Responsibilities
Physical Infrastructure Leadership (Primary Focus)
Coordinate and provide technical direction to teams of ISP and OSP cable technicians. Develop installation standards for racks, patch panels, fiber enclosures, and cable management systems. Validate termination, labeling, certification, and documentation of copper/fiber installations. Oversee infrastructure testing using OTDR, fiber certification tools, and copper cable analyzers. Review and approve as-built drawings, cable schedules, and infrastructure diagrams. Ensure strict compliance with Navy facility standards, NEC codes, TIA/EIA standards, and DoD security requirements. Coordinate outage windows, cutovers, and upgrades to minimize operational disruption. Provide daily tasking, QA oversight, and accountability for cabling teams.
Network Engineering (Layer 2-4)
Design and implement VLAN architectures, segmentation strategies, and secure enclave boundaries. Configure trunking, spanning tree protocols, and Layer 2 switching technologies. Implement IP addressing schemes, subnetting, and Layer 3 routing configurations. Troubleshoot across OSI Layers 1-4, correlating physical infrastructure issues with logical network behavior. Configure routing protocols, ACLs, QoS, and secure routing paths. Conduct performance analysis, capacity planning, and growth modeling for enterprise networks.
Operational & Compliance Oversight
Serve as the primary technical authority for physical and logical infrastructure issues. Ensure all installations and configurations comply with DISA STIGs, RMF controls, and DoD cybersecurity requirements. Support vulnerability remediation and secure configuration baselines. Coordinate change management activities and maintain accurate and validated network documentation. Support incident response and root cause analysis related to physical or network-layer failures.
Requirements
8+ years enterprise network engineering experience. Experience contributing to ISP/OSP cable installation teams. Deep understanding of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA) and fiber/copper infrastructure. Hands-on experience designing and implementing VLANs and Layer 3 routing. Proven ability to troubleshoot across Layers 1-4. Active Secret Clearance . IAT Level II certification (Security+, CySA+, CCNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP).
Compensation to include
Salary Range: $150,000 - $160,000 (depending on experience) Full Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, Sick Leave as required by law
